I Heard Your Whistle by CailinMarieCosplay I Heard Your Whistle by CailinMarieCosplay
"'We had no choice.' Always 'we had no choice.' Those are our magic words. We repeat them to ourselves again and again. But you know... the magic never worked! The only thing we're left with... is regret."

More from my Calm Lands photoshoot. c: I think this picture is my favorite from the whole thing.

how much goes into making a cosplay like this? i've seen a few and of course they vary in complexity , but i'm curios as to how much preparation goes into it

Phhhhhhh umm this costume took quite a bit of effort and a fair share of money. I think it cost around $150 to make. I bought the gauze, the interlock knit, the lace, the golden cord, craft foam, red felt, a wig, a package of hair, yarn, felt, yellow for the arms, vinyl for the belt, the belt buckle and decorations...I got the boyshorts in a pack of underwear from the store. :p I drafted my own patterns for the shirt, skirt, and arm bands. I sewed down all the individual pleats for the shirt. I had hand-made all the beads in her earring about three years before I made the rest of the costume and painted them as well. I bought a set of green contacts and a set of blue contacts for the heterochromia. I sewed the laces onto an existing pair of boots myself, too. The necklace was a pain in the ass to make and I'm going to re-do it. I also had to hand-dye the side skirt to get the gradient I wanted.

So yeah, about 20+ hours of work and $150 - $175 went into this costume. I really focused on craftsmanship and tried to make is as high quality as I could.
